Tim Score to take up the role as Chair of Chance to Shine

Chance to Shine are pleased to announce that Tim Score will take up the role as Chair of the charity from 1st September 2023.

He will replace the outgoing Chair Sir Donald Brydon, who steps down after making a wonderful contribution during his nine years in the role. The appointment follows an open recruitment process led by current trustee Sophie O’Connor.

“We were thrilled to have so many excellent applicants and are delighted to appoint someone of Tim’s stature and experience,” said Sophie.

“I would also like to place on record our heartfelt thanks to Sir Donald Brydon for his outstanding contribution as Chair over the past decade, during which time we have seen our reach and impact grow to unprecedented levels. We are also greatly appreciative to Korn Ferry for their support and diligence during the recruitment process”.

Tim brings vast experience to the role as the current Chair of British Land, Deputy Chair of Pearson and non-executive director at Bridgepoint. He is also an independent non-executive director of the Football Association and a trustee of the National Theatre.

Tim Score said: “I am a passionate supporter of Chance to Shine and am thrilled to take up this post. This is about so much more than just getting kids to pick up a bat or ball; the charity plays a vital role in ensuring that cricket is a game for all young people. It’s clear that the sport has the power to aid children’s wider development and we know that this work is now more important than ever.”

Sir Donald Brydon said: “It has been an absolute joy to chair Chance to Shine and watch how the charity has made such a difference to so many young people, encouraging them to be active and providing them with many life skills through their participation in cricket.  I am particularly pleased that Chane to Shine epitomises all that is good in cricket, championing diversity in all its forms and encouraging respect and tolerance.  I would like to thank all my fellow Trustees and the wonderful team led by Laura Cordingley (and recently by Vanessa Greene) for their dedication to this very worthwhile cause.“
