Laura Cordingley joins Chance to Shine

Today (Monday 16 April) we welcome our new Chief Executive, Laura Cordingley, to Chance to Shine. Laura joins the organisation having previously worked at the Mayor of London’s office as Assistant Director, responsible for Team London, volunteering and sport across the capital.

From 2013-2017 she was Community Development Manager at the MCC, where she developed and delivered the Club’s community engagement strategy including its successful and enduring partnership with Chance to Shine. Earlier in her career, she held sports development roles at Durham City School Sports Partnership and Volleyball England. Laura previously played for and captained her country at netball.

Laura replaces Luke Swanson who led the charity for three years, overseeing significant funding agreements with ECB, Sport England and NatWest. Under Luke’s leadership, Chance to Shine reached its 3 millionth child, introduced a new primary schools’ programme of coaching and launched the Schools’ Portal – free digital resources for primary school teachers.

Speaking today, Laura said “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Chance to Shine. I’m looking forward to building on the great work done by Luke and the team and working towards providing all children with the opportunity to play and learn through cricket. Chance to Shine has an amazing network of coaches, donors and supporters whom I am looking forward to getting to know in the coming months.”
