Chance to Shine appoints Kate Stephens as Chief Executive

Chance to Shine is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Stephens as the charity’s new Chief Executive.

A lifelong cricket fan, Kate joins after ten years as CEO of Smart Works, a UK based charity that that provides women with the clothing, coaching and confidence they need to succeed in job interviews.

During her time as CEO, Kate saw Smart Works grow from a London focussed organisation to a national charity, increasing its funding from under £500k to £4 million. She also oversaw their expansion to a network of six local Boards and 11 centres across the UK, including over 700 volunteers.

Chance to Shine Chairman Tim Score said: “This is a fantastic appointment for Chance to Shine, coming at the end of a comprehensive recruitment process which attracted some top-level candidates. Kate has a proven track record and a strong appreciation of the impact of our work. Her skill set will be vital in propelling us forward over the next few years, as we embark on an exciting new strategy that will inspire more children through cricket than ever before.”

Kate Stephens said: “I am delighted to be joining the outstanding team at Chance to Shine at such an important and exciting time for the game. The Board is ambitious for how this inspirational charity can help young people achieve their potential. I’ve always believed cricket has a unique ability to cross barriers and build strong communities, and it will be a privilege to lead the mission to help one million children a year to play, learn and develop through the magic of cricket.”

Kate will start her role from September 30th, following the departure of incumbent Chief Executive Laura Cordingley, who is taking up a role at the Chelsea FC Foundation.
