Chance to Shine announces two new trustees

Chance to Shine is delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees, Roland Turnill and Chris Townsend, to its Board.

Roland Turnill is the Senior Partner at international law firm Slaughter and May, with a distinguished career spanning public and private M&A, corporate governance, and crisis management. He is also a passionate cricketer, still playing the game regularly.

Chris Townsend is Head of Felsted School and a former first-class cricketer for the MCC and Oxford University. A current board member at Essex CCC, he has helped champion the growth of women’s cricket in schools, with Felsted’s girls’ team winning three national titles in recent years.

Will Lawes will step down from the Board in September after completing his full nine-year term of service. During this time, he has served as Senior Independent Director and as a member of the Governance and Remuneration Committee, making a significant contribution to the charity’s development.

Chair of Trustees Tim Score said: “We are delighted to welcome Roland and Chris. Their professional experience and shared passion for cricket will further strengthen the Board at an important time for the charity. Good governance is vital to the success of any organisation, and we are fortunate to have such a strong group of trustees guiding our strategy.

On behalf of the Board, I’d also like to thank Will for his outstanding contribution. His independence of thought, good judgement, and deep commitment to our mission have been invaluable and he will remain part of the Chance to Shine family.”
